Vedic Astrology

Picture

VVedic Astrology refers to Indian or Hindu astrology, a system that originated in ancient India, and was documented by sages in the Vedic scriptures. Also known as "Jyotish"-the science of light, Vedic astrology deals with astral light patterns that are thought to determine our destiny.

What is Astrology?
Astrology is the science of the effects of planetary movements on our lives. Astrology is based on astronomy, and astrologers need to know the correct positions of the planets at any given time, as well as the correct positions of the zodiacal fixed star signs in relation to any place on earth at any given time. Once the correct positions of the signs and planets are known, astrologers can construct charts representing these positions. And using his knowledge, the astrologer can study the charts and can make a wide range of conclusions about the moment the chart was cast for. Primarily, astrology is used to understand one's self, and our karma for this life.

Basic Principle of Vedic Astrology-

The basic premise of this astrology is that all things are linked. Your karma or fortune is determined by a predestined cosmic design. You are a soul incarnating in a body at a very specific time and place, and your life is a reflection of the greater whole into which you are born just as flowers bloom at certain times, say during spring time, when all conditions are perfectly congenial. So is the case with our births on this planet.
What are Charts? In Jyotish, the main item is your chart. It's a map of the planets in the signs of the zodiac. Charts are cast based on an exact moment at an exact place on earth. Therefore, the moment you were born and the place you were born has a chart, and that is your "birth chart" or "natal chart".
By reading the chart of the heavens for the time and place of your birth, claim astrologers, they can know much about you. The positions of the planets in the real star-based zodiac are taken and your "dashas" (predictive timeline) are arranged. Your Vedic chart will most likely reflect your real life and your dashas are probably operating the way they should. The Vedic astrologer looks at these planets, signs and house placements in your chart and can "see" your personality, as well as life events and possibilities - both the good and the bad times in your life. The dashas are then used to determine "when" the events will unfold in the life.
The Predictive Magic of Vedic AstrologyDashas give a greater predictive accuracy to Vedic astrology than Western astrology. These "planetary ruling periods," which are unique to this system, give Vedic astrologers a tool for quite accurately predicting the trends, changes and events in your life with amazing precision. Therefore, Vedic astrologers are less limited to talking about your general overall self and can get more deeply into what's going to happen in your life.

How is it Different from Western Astrology?

Vedic astrology differs from Western or Tropical astrology mainly in that it uses the fixed zodiac as opposed to the moving zodiac. Because of the gradual tilting of the earth in space on its axis, the zodiac, if you calculate it from the sun's relationship to the earth, appears to be moving at the rate of a little less than 1/60th of a degree per year. Currently, the relative or movable zodiac is off or out of alignment with the fixed or real star-based zodiac by roughly 23 degrees, which is almost one whole sign of the zodiac. Because the two systems are skewed from each other by nearly one whole sign, most people's "Sun Sign", that which you can get from the newspaper each day, is usually one sign back when the chart is refigured using Vedic astrology. So, the first surprise of using the Vedic system is that you are no longer the Sun Sign you always thought you were. However, if you were born in the last 5 days or so of the Western sign month, then you will probably still be the same sign in the Vedic system.
Personal ExperienceVedic Astrology is one of the most interesting artifacts of intelligent life on earth. I mean, it's one of the greatest things we can share with each other. It's like understanding how the whole darn big picture is swirling in unison with the dance of life. What I'm saying is, "This system really works!" It's amazing! No wonder it comes from the books of the Vedic era. I've personally found no greater source of profound knowledge than Vedic literature.

Palmistry

Picture

Palmistry with the meaning of palm reading or hand prediction is to learn a person’s personalities, fortune and future by analyzing his/her hands. It is also called Chiromancy. In fact, palmistry not only refers to the reading of one’s hand or palm, it also includes the reading of arm, finger and fingernail. By reading one’s palm line, hand shape and size, finger length and flexibility, fingernail…, we can predict his character traits, health, wealth, wisdom, career, marriage and many more aspects.

Origin of Palmistry

The palmistry has its roots in Indian, Chinese astrology as well as Roma fortune-telling. From the ancient remaining record of the frescoes in ruins of India and words passed down from Brahmanism, we can find palmistry was very popular in India at that time.

kundalini Activation

Kundalini (Sanskrit kuṇḍalinī, कुण्डलिनी, "coiled one"), in the Dharma religions, is a primal energy, or shakti, located at the base of the spine. Different spiritual traditions teach methods of "awakening" kundalini for the purpose of reaching spiritual enlightenment. Kundalini is described as lying "coiled" at the base of the spine, represented as either a goddess or sleeping serpent waiting to be awakened. In modern commentaries, Kundalini has been called an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force, or "mother energy or intelligence of complete maturation".
Kundalini awakening is said to result in deep meditation, enlightenment and bliss. This awakening involves the Kundalini physically moving up the central channel to reach within the Sahasrara Chakra at the top of the head. Many systems of yoga focus on the awakening of Kundalini through meditation, pranayama breathing, the practice of asana and chanting of mantras. In physical terms, one commonly reports the Kundalini experience to be a feeling of electric current running along the spine.

The concept of Kundalini is mentioned in Upanishads (9th century BCE - 3rd century BCE).verification needed The Sanskrit adjectivekuṇḍalin means "circular, annular". It does occur as a noun for "snake" (in the sense "coiled", as in "forming ringlets") in the 12th-century Rajatarangini chronicle. Kuṇḍa, a noun with the meaning "bowl, water-pot" is found as the name of a Naga in Mahabharata 1.4828. The 8th-century Tantrasadbhava Tantra uses the term kundalī ("ring, bracelet; coil (of a rope)").
The use of kuṇḍalī as a name of Durga or of a Shakti appears as a technical term in Tantrism and Shaktism as early as c. the 11th century, in the Śaradatilaka. It is adopted askuṇḍalniī as a technical term into Hatha yoga in the 15th century and becomes widely used in the Yoga Upanishads by the 16th century. Eknath Easwaran has paraphrased the term as "the coiled power," a force which ordinarily rests at the base of the spine, described as being "coiled there like a serpent". The phrase serpent power was coined by Sir John Woodroffe, who published his translation of two 16th-century treatises on laya yoga (Kundalini yoga) in 1919 under this title.

Descriptions Numerous accounts describe the experience of Kundalini awakening. When awakened, Kundalini is said to rise up from the muladhara chakra through the central nadi, called sushumna, inside or alongside the spine and reaching the top of the head. The progress of Kundalini through the different chakras leads to different levels of awakening and mystical experience, until Kundalini finally reaches the top of the head, Sahasrara or crown chakra, producing an extremely profound transformation of consciousness.

Physical effects are believed to be a sign of Kundalini awakening by some, but described as unwanted side effects pointing to a problem rather than progress by others. The following are either common signs of an awakened Kundalini or symptoms of a problem associated with an awakening Kundalini (commonly referred to as Kundalini syndrome):
  • Involuntary jerks, tremors, shaking, itching, tingling, and crawling sensations, especially in the arms and legs
  • Energy rushes or feelings of electricity circulating the body
  • Intense heat (sweating) or cold, especially as energy is experienced passing through the chakras
  • Spontaneous pranayama, asanas, mudras and bandhas
  • Visions or sounds at times associated with a particular chakra
  • Diminished or conversely extreme sexual desire sometimes leading to a state of constant or whole-body orgasm
  • Emotional upheavals or surfacing of unwanted and repressed feelings or thoughts with certain repressed emotions becoming dominant in the conscious mind for short or long periods of time.
  • Headache, migraine, or pressure inside the skull
  • Increased blood pressure and irregular heartbeat
  • Emotional numbness
  • Antisocial tendencies
  • Mood swings with periods of depression or mania
  • Pains in different areas of the body, especially back and neck
  • Sensitivity to light, sound, and touch
  • Trance-like and altered states of consciousness
  • Disrupted sleep pattern (periods of insomnia or oversleeping)
  • Loss of appetite or overeating
  • Bliss, feelings of infinite love and universal connectivity, transcendent awareness
Reports about the Sahaja Yoga technique of Kundalini awakening state that the practice can result in a cool breeze felt on the fingertips as well as on the fontanel bone area. One study has measured a drop in temperature on the palms of the hands resulting from this technique.

In his article on Kundalini in the Yoga Journal, David Eastman narrates two personal experiences. One man said he felt an activity at the base of his spine starting to flow so he relaxed and allowed it to happen. A feeling of surging energy began traveling up his back, at each chakra he felt an orgasmic electric feeling like every nerve trunk on his spine beginning to fire. A second man describes a similar experience but accompanied by a wave of euphoria and happiness softly permeating his being. He described the surging energy as being like electricity but hot, traveling from the base of his spine to the top of his head. He said the more he analyzed the experience, the less it occurred.

In his book, Building a Noble World, Shiv R. Jhawar describes his Kundalini awakening experience at Muktananda’s public program at Lake Point Tower in Chicago on September 16, 1974 as follows:

“Baba [Swami Muktananda] had just begun delivering his discourse with his opening statement: ‘Today’s subject is meditation. The crux of the question is: What do we meditate upon?’ Continuing his talk, Baba said: ‘Kundalini starts dancing when one repeats Om Namah Shivaya.’Hearing this, I mentally repeated the mantra, I noticed that my breathing was getting heavier. Suddenly, I felt a great impact of a rising force within me. The intensity of this rising kundalini force was so tremendous that my body lifted up a little and fell flat into the aisle; my eyeglasses flew off. As I lay there with my eyes closed, I could see a continuous fountain of dazzling white lights erupting within me. In brilliance, these lights were brighter than the sun but possessed no heat at all. I was experiencing the thought-free state of "I am," realizing that "I" have always been, and will continue to be, eternal. I was fully conscious and completely aware while I was experiencing the pure "I am," a state of supreme bliss. Outwardly, at that precise moment, Baba delightfully shouted from his platform…’mene kuch nahi kiya; kisiko shakti ne pakda (I didn’t do anything. The Energy has caught someone.)’ Baba noticed that the dramatic awakening of kundalini in me frightened some people in the audience. Therefore, he said, ‘Do not be frightened. Sometimes kundalini gets awakened in this way, depending upon a person’s type.

Third Eye Activation

Picture
The third eye is our ability to see what might be, to see potential.
Everyone has access to his or her third eye. For example, when you have a hunch and act on it, you’ve used your third eye. But that’s only the beginning. Your third eye is a sense, one you can develop to be more refined and accurate than just being a hunch.

The Third Eye is a natural part of every person. One way to think of it is as a “meta” organ that consists of your mind and all of your senses working together as a larger, more powerful sensory organ. The Third Eye is a very clever bit of natural evolution that allows you to see the patterns in your life. Even more amazing, your third eye can reveal these patterns to you by overlaying this information on top of your other senses.
As a sense, your third eye can be used in many different ways. Seers use their third eye to understand hidden connections and answer questions. Energy workers ‘feel’ the energies around them and to then consciously manipulate that energy. And every time you have empathy, you are using your third eye to touch and feel the emotions of others. Many other examples exist for how people use the Third Eye.

Seeing with the Third EyeTo understand how the third eye works, let’s look at how it is possible to use the Third Eye to sense and visually interpret energy around us. It’s possible to see Motion (for example a car moving), Activity (you driving the car) and Exchange of Energy (burning the gas). Add in our capacity of sensing & projecting potential (being able to predict where the car goes based on the roads and knowing the driver), in other words seeing where energy, motion and activities will flow to over time. Add all this together into an internal visual map and you have just expanded how you see Energy playing out (the results of using the car/gasoline/intention to drive you up the hill). By seeing energy as mental overlay rather than just an abstract concept, it becomes a tangible property of life that we can learn how to sense and interact with in a deeper manner.
Is it possible to really ‘see’ energy? Not directly. While our eyes can see the end results of energy in action, seeing energy directly is another thing all together. Our eyes only ‘see’ what they are designed to see, light. What our third eye does is process information and then overlay that information over our other senses in such a way we can then interpret and interact with energy in a more precise manner. In this way, we can understand where the energy is and we can ‘see’ it.
This makes sense, if you think about it. The mind has figured something out and wants to tell us. The easiest way for it to do this is to use what it already has access to: our five normal senses.

This can appear as a mystical power being able to “see” or “predict” processes, events, potentials which are not physically present. But it’s a very real and tangible skill.
Because so much depends on your ability to interpret results, there is a lot of room for mistranslation between the “facts” and what your third eye returns to you. Also, because each of us sees things differently, it can be problematic to share what we see with others. For example, when we hear the word ‘cup’, each of us may visualize a completely different cup. What one person will sense is different from another.
Of course, commonalities exist. We are human and our form, our nature help push us towards common baselines of experience. However, the unique nature of each person also ensures that each of us sees the world from a different angle.
It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that there are so many different mystical practices to explore all the different perceptions of the world we hold.

Lets use Aura’s as an example.Consider a person who sees auras or light. Auras are in fact such an information overlay. Your brain has the ability to process visual information, but the image it creates for you is not limited to what comes from your eyes. Consider what you see on this page as you read it. You aren’t seeing black lines. You are seeing words and then concepts and ideas overlaid on top of them.
Now envision yourself looking at another person. You don’t just see what he or she is wearing. Your whole neural network, your mind and sense organs form a larger more sensitive antenna that picks up on energy and patterns before you. There are so many clues in front of you that tell you about the person’s emotional state, well-being, level of distraction, and so many other factors. Your third eye has a lot to share with you and so it puts this information into what you see by adding an aura. In reality what you are seeing is slightly different over what is happening: but your mind is always altering your experience to give you extra information to work with. If you look at the scientific research you will discover the mind is constantly editing our perception. So the third eye uses this natural mental capacity to alter our perception to add in extra data more than we realize.
Seeing auras or energy can appear as a mystical power, depending upon a person’s level of skill. But it is just that: a very real and tangible skill, one that can be taught. A person can even be taught how to view auras in a standard way.

Opening the Third EyeTaoist and Shamanic practices have developed extensive training techniques for using and working with your third eye. It’s a real sense, but it’s a “meta” sense and it must be “used and tuned” in order to be developed fully. It isn’t something that just works out of the box from birth.
A great way to start using and tuning this sense is to connect to a power animal or learn shamanic journeying.  A shamanic practitioner can assist you through a power animal retrieval or by guiding you on a shamanic journey.
As a Taoist, I have been developing my third eye since I was five years old and had my first vision. When I shared my first vision with others, I discover immediately that most people don’t see the world in this fashion. Unfortunately, I was also persecuted by others. Being so young, I quickly learned to keep my ability to myself and explore it silently and patiently on my own terms. It’s only recently that I have opened up on this part of my Taoist practice since it’s so easily misunderstood and so many misconceptions exist about this ability.
I have spent more than 40 years exploring my third eye, reviewing materials and using my background in both Taoism and the sciences to understand it. During this time, I have developed a way to describe the third eye in terms that are acceptable to most everyone. So hence, I am now sharing it in my teachings.
Many people naturally suppress this ability, often to prevent others from making fun of them or labeling them as crazy. And, with enough suppression, any ability withers and goes away. You must use your third eye in order for it work. Also, how you use it shapes what it will be able to sense.
For all of these reasons and others, the Third Eye remains a mysterious ability.
Different cultures use many varied techniques to develop this skill. Taoists, for example, are very patient, taking decades to define and refine this ability to help them become a Sage / Seer with the extra information they can see. The nature of the interpretive aspects of this ability means experience helps improve its capabilities and accuracy. As a consequence, it is a slow process to master.

Benefits of Opening Third Eye
Most of us believe that each person only has two eyes. But the truth is, every one of us has three, the third being the most powerful. Even though the third eye is not visible, it is actually present in everybody. It just has to be opened and activated. Yet, what can people get from awakening their third eye? What are its benefits?

1. You will be awakened from a spiritual slumberOpening your third eye metaphysically awakens you from deep slumber. It enables you to start to understand the truth around you. What this means is that you will begin to discover that this world is actually brimming with inequalities and control. You will become motivated to be free and to dwell in a place that is filled with love, truth and compassion. Eventually, you will realize how all the things that surround you are actually connected. Awakening your third eye allows you to have a much deeper connection with the world and the rest of the universe. Profoundly, it enables you to see the positive side in everything and understand that your body is not really your true self.
2. You will become as attractive as a magnetBy activating your third eye, you are able to help balance the entire chakra system. In turn, you become energized, empowered and in harmony with the universe. With this positive spirit, you can easily attract people like a magnet.
3. You will have better sleepSince it is your pineal gland that controls your sleep cycles, you will be able to have quality sleep and more vivid dreams. Ultimately, you will begin to recognize the immensity of your true self and the boundless possibilities existing in the realm of dreams.
4. You will have a sixth senseThis is exactly why some people think that present-time prophets have open third eye. When your third eye is activated, you will have the ability to read instinctual signs much easily, and you can easily tap into your natural psychic powers. This sixth sense will make you know things before they even happen. Your instincts become like a compass that directs you to the right path to attain whatever your soul searches for.
5. You will have the ability to astral travelWhen your pineal gland is connected to this realm of existence where time and space doesn’t exist, your soul will have the capacity to leave its human body and travel astrally across space and time. You can go to any place and any time in the universe.
6. You will foster your creativityWith an awakened third eye, you will have a constant connection to the world where our souls dwell. There is no space and no time in this plane of existence, only boundless love and truth. When you are connected to this world, your creative imagination is revved up and your power to find solutions is enhanced.
Opening your third eye may require work and practice, and requires the guidance and supervision of someone who can help you with the process.

Moxibustion

Picture
Picture
Moxa or moxibustion is a term derived from the Japanese word mogusa or mo kusa, meaning, “burning herb.” It can be found in many forms, from moxa “wool” to moxa pressed into a charcoal stick, but it is always harvested from the mugwort plant (artemisia vulgaris or artemisia argyii). After harvesting, the leaves are ground aged for 3-5 years before use.

Mugwort has been used alongside acupuncture for over 3 thousand years, at least as long as we have evidence of the practice of acupuncture. The translation of the Chinese character for acupuncture, zhenjiu: “zhen” stands for needle and “jiu” means moxa, or acupuncture-moxibustion. They are integral and complimentary modes of treatment: “A disease that may not be treated by acupuncture may be treated by moxibustion,”  according to the Lingshu (Miraculous Pivot, or Spiritual Pivot), one of 2 parts of Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine), the earliest book written on Chinese Medicine, compiled around 305-204 B.C.
There is evidence of a long history of the use of mugwort within the archives of Western civilization too. Its Latin name, Artemesia Vulgaris associates the herb with the Greek God Artemis. Below is an illustration from an 11th century manuscript in which her Roman counterpart, Diana, hands the god Chiron the herb mugwort for medicinal purposes.

What exactly does the practitioner do?
In the U.S., practitioners generally hold a burning moxa stick close to, but not touching, the surface of the skin.

In this method, the moxa material is compressed into a stick or pole, looking not unlike an oversized cigar that can be lit and allowed to smolder, producing a unique form of very penetrating heat.
The smoldering moxa stick is held over specific areas, often, though not always, corresponding to certain acupuncture points. The glowing end of the moxa stick is held about an inch or two above the surface of the skin until the area reddens and becomes suffused with warmth.

What can I expect to feel?
It is not uncommon for patients receiving moxibustion to report a sudden flooding of warmth that quickly radiates along a specific pathway (usually corresponding with the jing luo channel that is being treated) away from the site of application. This is a good result, as it indicates the arrival of the Qi and signals that the flow of Qi and xue has been freed in the channel.
When is moxibustion used?Moxibustion is used for:
  • Pain due to injury or arthritis, especially in "cold" patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat
  • Digestive problems and irregular elimination
  • Gynecological and obstetrical conditions, including breech presentation in late term pregnancy
  • Protection against cold and flu strains
Practitioners often do both acupuncture and moxibustion in the same clinic session when appropriate to the diagnosis and treatment strategy. Practitioners believe that the therapies increase each other's effectiveness when used together.
Unlike acupuncture, which is almost always done by a trained practitioner in a clinic setting, moxibustion can be easily used at home. It is not uncommon for Chinese medical practitioners to train their patients to use moxa on themselves to strengthen the effect of the clinical sessions between appointments.

What does it smell like?
There is a small inconvenience associated with moxibustion: the smoke and odor. Although there are so-called smokeless varieties of moxa, the preferred true moxa (made from mugwort) does produce a lot of smoke when burned. Most TCM clinics are well equipped with a good ventilation and air purification system, so this is not a big problem.
However, the lingering odor produced from burning mugwort unfortunately smells somewhat like marijuana. Most practitioners in the United States, place small signs around their office informing patients and visitors about the true nature of the odor that they may be noticing.

Divine White Light Protection and Healing

Picture
Picture
Divine Healing is the use of Divine Energy for Healing. The ultimate Source of Divine Healing Energy is God - Who is the Source of all Life. The Divine Healing Energy passes from God through Higher Beings, Holy Masters, Saints, and Healing Angels, then to the healer, then to the patient's etheric, mental, emotional, and physical bodies. The Healing Energy may also be passed directly from the God Presence of the healer to the patient. Divine Healing is practiced in various religions: Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Taoism, Baha'i, Judaism, Hinduism, and others. No single religion has a monopoly on Divine Healing. Divine Healing is a higher form of pranic healing.

Divine Healing Energy is seen as Electric Violet Light or brilliant White Light. Divine Energy has the properties of all the color pranas. In general, Divine Energy is used for treating severe ailments, not simple ailments. To use Divine Energy for treating simple ailments is like using diamonds instead of coal as fuel. Divine Healing is usually used when the healer has to treat many patients with simple or severe ailments in a short time.

"The Divine Healing Energy is transferred from the soul of the healer to the soul of the patient, then to the patient's etheric and physical bodies. This is seen as a flood of Electric Violet Light or brilliant White Light coming down, thereby rapidly cleansing and energizing the whole body."

Emotional Freedom Technique(EFT)

Picture
Picture
EFT (commonly referred to as just “Tapping”) is a safe, gentle, noninvasive technique that uses a combination of ancient acupressure techniques and modern psychology to treat an impressive list of common problems and medical conditions.  It can be used along with any medical treatment or other self-help method.

Numerous case reports by clinicians who have used EFT with clients, and by individuals who have applied it to their own lives, have been published over a period of more than 25 years,. These accounts indicate that many people who try EFT/Tapping benefit from it, often in an impressive manner.

In addition to the thousands of individual records that have accumulated, independent research has substantiated the beneficial effects that EFT has on fears and phobias, pain, depression, anxiety, and many other troubling conditions.
  1. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is safe, needs no equipment.

  2.  It’s a great tool to effectively calm or soothe your self emotionally, mentally and/or physically.5 - With EFT you become responsible for soothing or calming yourself, instead of waiting for another person to change their mood, attitude or behaviour so you can feel better.

  3. EFT can also be done quite effectively using only your mind and imagining that you are tapping on the EFT body points - this is called mental tapping. Imaginary or mental tapping is great thing to do before falling asleep or when you wake up and are too tired or too relaxed to lift up your arm.

  4. EFT not only stimulates the energy meridians and improves energy flow in the body, it helps to fully connect you to your physical body or ‘ground’ your body’s energy (electrical) system. Here are some signs of being ‘ungrounded’: stumbling, bumping into things, clumsiness, minor injuries, being unfocussed, light headed, confused, feeling uneasy, anxious, nervous, angry, worried, scared, sad etc.

  5. EFT is a powerful tool for disease prevention. Trapped negative energy in the body like stress, tension, anxiety and worry has been clinically proven to lead to illness such as; ulcers, crohn’s disease, colitis, chronic stress disorder, back problems, migraines, tension headaches, fibromyalgia, IBS, chronic fatigue syndrome, mood disorders such as depression, TMJ and more.

  6. No one has ever been harmed by doing EFT.

Acupressure

Evolved back in ancient days, especially in Chinese land, acupressure promotes the concept of wellness, relaxation, and treating diseases as well. Also known as pressure acupuncture, it’s the method that relies on no needles unlike acupuncture. Acupressure therapy is a form of old Chinese medicine that describes special acu-points, which are led along channels and meridians in human body.

How Does It Work?
Practitioners use their feet, elbows, palms, or fingers to apply pressure to acupressure points on body’s channels. Sometimes, it involves special devices, massage, stretching, etc. The practitioner presses on those points, applying some massage or any other treatment and the whole session lasts for an hour or so.

The main aim of the Acupressure technique (LINK TO Acupressure techniques post) is to balance and restore the health to body’s meridians of energy and monitor opposing faces of positive energy (yang) and negative energy (yin). It does not only treat body, energy fields, but also spirit, emotions, and mind according to the ancient believers of acupressure.

They attribute many results like stimulation of endorphins, enhanced circulation, minimized muscle tension toacupressure therapy, and it basically works like a natural pain/stress reliever.

Treats Nausea and Arthritis
The best part of acupressure treatment is that it can be offered to anyone; nausea is often connected to spinal anesthesia, post-chemotherapy, post-surgery, motion sickness, and pregnancy and it has been proved that acupressure treats this pretty well. Practitioners usually apply pressure on finger points or wrist that treats nausea immediately. This treatment also producesendorphins (due to its anti-inflammatory effect) that cure medical conditions like arthritis.

Induces Labor Pain
Those looking for normal delivery can make use of acupressure therapy to induce labor pain; it also offers many other benefits that a pregnant woman would indeed want. It eases morning or evening sickness, relieves back pain, and also induces labor pain! But, if you’re pregnant and still going for this treatment, it’s suggested to contact your gynecologist to avoid premature delivery or unwanted labor pains.

Weight Loss
The acu-points are connected to the hunger system of the brain and when stimulated by fingertip or massaged, it reduces the urge to eat. The pressure point between upper lip and nose could lower appetite and hence before taking heavy meal, apply pressure or massage that point for about 10 to 20 seconds to reduce appetite.

Chinese Beauty Care Treatments
This therapy is also used in beauty care treatment in Chinese tradition as it increases blood circulation, and enhances muscle tone. It improves connective tissue or tones facial muscle, enhancing skin condition. Simple finger pressure along with facial exercise can relax the muscles and improve your look. It also weakens the appearance of wrinkles, without the need to opt for surgery or drugs.Simple finger pressure on the Heavenly Appearance points, along with therapeutic facial exercises, relieves congested areas and relaxes the muscles. Thus toxins are released and eliminated, which of course benefits your outward appearance. Acupressure points release the flow of life energy, which improves both how you feel as well as how you look.

Ways to Use Acupressure

The Applications of Using Acupressure include relieving pain, balancing body energy, and maintaining good health. Acupressure's healing touch reduces muscular tension, increases circulation, and enables deep relaxation. By relieving stress, Acupressure Therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. You can learn self-care applications and pressure point formulas for specific conditions, such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic muscular pain, mental stress, addiction recovery, learning disorders, trauma, emotional imbalances and more. Here are some areas for applying Acupressure effectively.

Better Sex-  Ancient Chinese Sexology practices use the acupressure points to cultivate sexual energy in lovemaking. Acupressure for lovers also fortifies fertility, arousal, and sexual endurance, enhancing sexual pleasure. Lovers have the advantage of stimulating the acupressure points with full body embraces, kisses, and the secrets of touch. Learn special points for heightening spiritual awareness and the chemistry of your love relationship. It also provides answers for sexual problems such as inhibited sexual desire, premature ejaculation, impotency, infertility, and sexual frustration through an understanding of where sexual energy gets blocked and what points to use to release it. Achieve deeper sexual communication, spirituality, and learn acupressure techniques to unleash the dynamic force of love.

Back Care- Acupressure Therapy is highly effective for relieving muscular tension in all areas of the back. Important points are located along either side of the spine and on the upper back. For self back care, lie down on a couple of tennis balls tied in a sock. Many people especially appreciate the release of tightness associated with lower back pain and sciatica. Acupressure, Shiatsu, Thai Massage, and self-acupressure for relieving back pain can also be an effective adjunct to chiropractic treatment. By relaxing and toning the back muscles, Acupressure makes the spinal adjustments easier and more effective, and the chiropractic results last longer. In fact, Acupressure and chiropractic treatments were originally practiced together in ancient China.

Healing Trauma & Emotional Pain-  Long known for its ability to alleviate physical pain, the ancient healing art of Acupressure can also relieve emotional pain. From day-to-day pressures to life's most significant trials, emotional stress causes the body to shut down, which keeps negative feelings stuck, resulting in physical ailments and emotional imbalances. Acupressure techniques release this muscular tension and restore the flow of vital energy, making resolution possible.

Acupressure relaxes the tight muscles that result from emotional stress and trauma, which cause the body to contract its muscles and harden, like protective armor, to shield your inner self. For instance, when something frightens you, or someone uptight treats you abrasively, your neck and shoulders may tighten immediately in response. This tension prevents energy from circulating freely in your body, which can lead to various physical and emotional imbalances. If you do not deal with these tensions and resulting afflictions, emotional problems may stay buried, and then resurface at a later time, when they're triggered by some new stress. Most therapies address the cognitive and emotional aspects of trauma, but do not get to the physiological source. Acupressure has an advantage in that it works directly with the body to relieve physical ailments, muscular tension, and the emotional imbalances associated with them.
Emotional imbalances and the physical symptoms that accompany them are often the body's response to unresolved issues and events. Someone who witnessed a fatal automobile accident, or an abusive incident, may live with the memory in the form of recurring nightmares and insomnia or other psychosomatic ailments. If left untreated, they can continue for years. Using acupressure points for today's tension headache, caused by a conflict at work or an argument over homework with one's teenager, may bring old conflicts or memories to the surface during an acupressure session or afterward. To follow up, use acupressure self-care methods, or explore the issues in therapy. Becoming conscious of old memories and bringing them out in the open can lessen their impact.

Divorce is another example of a life-changing transition that can cause emotional problems such as anxiety, worry, and depression, and also cause physical symptoms, such as stomachaches, ulcers, irritable bowel problems, and more. Acupressure can help balance these symptoms.

Addictions: Compulsive behaviors occur in cycles and are cumulative; one stress leads to another. Poor choices and emotionally unhealthy situations contribute to muscular tensions, pressures and pain. People commonly use drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or overeating to avoid the stress and tension in their lives and to escape from feeling pain in the body.
Acupressure can break the negative cycle of addiction, since it releases pain, stress, and tension, and heightens body awareness. Instead of the numbing affects of drugs, acupressure increases the circulation, helping to lift the fog of addiction and bringing a person back to the present moment. There are acupressure points for regaining stability, reducing cravings, for heightening morale, self-esteem, and self-confidence, and for boosting will power - all of which are vital for combating addictions.

Acupressure Methods

All Acupressure Massage techniques, methods and styles use the same ancient acupressure trigger points. They vary in using different rhythms and pressures for stimulating the acupressure points, using not only the fingers, but also the hands, arms, legs and even feet. Some styles also incorporate other healing techniques.Shiatsu Therapy, the traditional Japanese form of acupressure, can be quite vigorous, with deep pressure applied to each point for three to five seconds. In Jin Shin Acupressure, at least two points are gently held for a minute or more. This style also uses the Extra Meridians or Extraordinary Vessels, which balance the meridians. Tuina Chinese Massage and Thai Massage stimulate the Qi ("key") healing energy using acupressure hand movements, full body stretches, and Chinese massage techniques.
Healing Energy Work

Acupressure Points have a high electrical conductivity at the surface of the skin, and thus conduct and channel healing energy most effectively. This is why the most potent healing energy work uses acupressure points. The Chinese call healing energy Qi or Chi. In Japan, the life force is termed Ki, and channeling healing energy is called Reiki. Yoga practices refer to the body's life force as prana or pranic energy. These terms all relate to the same universal healing energy, which exists in our environment, and links us to all forms of life.

The 12 Meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine are the body's healing energy pathways. Meridian massage therapy moves this life energy through the meridians to improve flow and balance. Acupressure charts and Acupuncture charts show where the meridian lines are on the body. The points are where vital energy gets blocked on the meridians, and where you can most effectively release the resulting tension, numbness, or pain. As healing energy flows through the meridians, it governs blood circulation and harmonizes all functions of the body. Studying the meridian pathways and Acupressure points for transmitting Qi healing energy is key to transformation of energy work, including therapeutic touch and massage therapy.

Energy blockages whether from stress, trauma, or an injury, can be traced to the root of all health problems. Your energy flow affects how you feel, how you think, and how you breathe. Just as negative thoughts can block your energy flow, positive thoughts can increase your healing energy. When the body's life-force energy becomes blocked, various emotional imbalances and physical symptoms also result. These energy blockages occur at the acupressure points. Through a variety of acupressure methods ranging from light touch, tapping, to simply holding the points, the body's life energy is able to flow and re balance.

A skilled Acupressurist can integrate many complementary health care methods and therapies into a complete treatment. Examples include therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, acupressure meridian therapy, five element assessments, pulse reading, Asian bodywork therapy, energy psychology (which involves tapping acupressure points), and acupressure massage therapy techniques.

Martial Arts & Healing Arts share a common focus on the flow of energy within the body. Both Martial Arts and the Healing Arts transmit powerful energy in their practices.  For instance, the point underneath the base of the skull (called the Gates of Consciousness) can be used in Martial Arts to paralyze the body, and block energy to the brain. However, the same Acupressure point can be used to open more healing energy into the brain, and relieve migraine headaches. An Acupressurist can use this point easily to balance the hemispheres and functions of the brain, leaving a person with mental alertness and clarity.

The healing arts use the life force for internal healing. In contrast, martial artists cultivate their energy internally, but use the life force externally for self-defense and physical power. Both practices cultivate healing energy through exercise, diet, and visualizations. A well-developed martial artist master knows how to use the life force for self-defense, and also knows how to use this vital energy to heal an opponent.

Use Qi Gong with Acupressure to cultivate internal healing. The ancient Chinese masters of healing and martial arts developed hundreds of internal healing art practices to strengthen the flow of the life force. These highly valued self-healing practices within the Chinese culture are known as Qi Gong (or Chi Gong). A skilled Acupressurist channels Chi or Qi energy throughout the body. By strengthening your life force through Qi Gong and martial art exercises, you can heighten your own ability to use Acupressure Therapy to heal yourself and others.

Use Reiki on the Points to enhance healing. Traditional Reiki practitioners use the whole hand with light contact to channel energy and relieve pain. Learn how to heal the body by sending life energy (also known as Reiki) through the acupressure points. Channeling Reiki energy through the acupressure points can enable you to tap into Traditional Chinese Medicine's point-specific ancient healing knowledge.
Energy Flow Governs Well-Being in people and animals alike. Within all living animals are meridian pathways. These life-force channels govern the functions of all body systems, such as the nervous, digestive, endocrine, vascular, lymphatic, and reproductive systems. The way energy flows through the meridians presides over wellness or dis-ease. Meridian blockages can cause all kinds of human suffering. However, when the life force flows through the meridians in a balanced way, health, harmony, and happiness results.
